Modem with single ethernet port and multiple DHCP IP's

I am currently getting 2 DHCP IP's from MC and would like to get rid of the modem they have provided me. If I replace it with a modem that only has one Ethernet port out, can I put a dumb switch behind it and split it up that way? I do this so my home lab is separate from everything else so when i mess something up, my wife isn't affected.

Im just wondering what people are useing for Wifi Routers with the 1Gig service.Im currently useing a Ubiquiti AmpliFi HD Home Wi-Fi Router its the Mesh System..I love the router its small does everything i need it to do..I also have a Asus RT-AC88U thats currectly not being used..Thinking about hooking up Asus an seeing if there is any speed difference wired an wireless just for the heck of it..

My modem keeps resetting itself. Happens on 3 different models Techs say the signal is good but upstream is slightly off All lines are less than three years old. Any ideas?

My internet went out at about 9PM last night and I hear from my wife that it is still down at 2:30. Is there a known outage in my area? Zip code 50131.

I just had 200 service installed couple of weeks ago. Installer provisioned my SB8200 modem. DL light is blue(3.1), UL light is green(3.0). Installer mentioned my modulation was on the verge of being a problem and he opened a ticket for it for someone to come out and address at the box in the yard. He said both lights would be green when it was fixed. But from what I have read there is no 3.1 UP currently. Is this correct or do I still have an issue? I will log into the modem and get the numbers out of it tonight.

I'm trying to access my gateway's diagnostics (192.168.100.1) but are greeted but a user\password login. I've tried user/user support/support admin/admin with no luck. Anyone know the info?

Two issues: 1) The last few days I have had the internet just randomly stop out of nowhere for a few hours at a time. Mediacom reports no outage, and they cannot communicate with my modem. The issue resolves itself in a few hours and I don't want to get charged the ridiculous $29 fee if they come out and find no problem so I cancel the call. Some research shows it could be local to this house only. Would I be correct in guessing it's either the cable, the amplifier, the node, or the grounding? What do I need to ensure the tech verifies when they arrive? I cannot access the upstream and downstream dBfs levels because the modem is locked, but I have been told they are between -35 to 45dbfs which is perfect. 2) In online gaming I receive two errors almost constantly. Latency variation, and Packet loss. Latency variation is the biggest issue as I often get reports that my jitter is well beyond normal. I hear this can be due to my modem being utilized by the 3 people in this house, however with technology these days I wonder if my modem needs more channels? I have the HiTron CNGN-2250 modem supplied by mediacom. My Xbox One X is wired directly to my router which is wired directly to my Modem, ruling out WiFi. There is a second router connected to my primary router (with no conflictions). Is it possible this second router is causing a lot of network exchanges and in turn buffering? I believe the packet loss is due to the latency variation as when I test packet loss, it's less than 1%. My ping is often 60ms-80ms. At my previous address using the same router I had 15ms of ping, something is wrong here. I am in contact with mediacom, and the CS rep on here has always been helpful. No problems with the rep. I am making the post to get help from those technically inclined who can give me useful knowledge to help get the problems I'm experiencing resolved more quickly because the techs who come out want to spend as little time as possible troubleshooting so they can get to the next job and it feels like they don't care about actual service quality. Hi all, So I am a bit baffled. There are 2 places where I can check my Internet Usage. In one place, it says I have 2 days left. In the other place, it says I have 4 days left. When I go here: https://support.mediacomcable.com/#!/Account/Dashboard It tells me: 223.2 GB of 250 GB Internet data used. Monthly cycle ends in 2 days. But when I go here: http://mediacomtoday.com/usagemeter/index.php It tells me: 89% used 11% left with 4 days remaining this month 223.2 GB of 250 GB used So the Usage is right, but the days left is off... And I don't know which one is right. Which one is? Anyone know?

Looking to buy a new modem since Mediacom can't send me a working one without waiting over a week. Any suggestions between the two?

Just moved to Urbandale and ever since we had the Mediacom service installed here it has been troublesome, kind of a ridiculous nightmare to be honest. We have the whole house wifi in a big impressive looking brand new Samsung wifi cable modem/router/access point from Mediacom which works fine, but the internet keeps bouncing on and off. At first it didn't work but for 10 minutes a day...we had multiple techs out, the third of which finally realized that the tap settings at the distribution box needed an increase which gave us internet for most of the day. But now it just dies frequently, every 2 minutes, 10 minutes/half hour...its very inconsistent. But frustrating! At the previous house we had CenturyLink and it was slower but rarely did it go out. Calls to Mediacom's automated line (never get to talk to a human) just result in a completely inexperienced tech being scheduled days and days away, which just results in them saying it seems ok to them... Anybody out there know what we can do? There are no other service providers servicing this address. Help!

I have a 200/30 plan. For the last couple of months ive had problems with upload going to nothing. Ill get 267 down and 0.1 up. Ive had techs come out, test, and they say its on their end so they escalate to maintenance. Problem persists, been an issue for months now. I have a new modem, SB8200, the other day they ran a new drop from the tap (old one was only 18 months old), I ran a new line from the modem to the drop (again, old one was about 18 months old), and i still have issues. Ive probably had 15 tech visits in the past 3 months or so.... no resolution. How can I get Mediacom to resolve this?

Have gigabit speed and as I can see others have the same problem that I have. 300-500 dl nominally. I see speeds also from 500 -940 (rare). Upload stays at 63. Arris sb8200, Linksys wrt32x router, cat 7 cable. Ive hooked directly to modem and same thing. Mediacom has been out and checked it 4-5 times and no resolution. they said they can not test anything above 500. Said I needed to get a gigabit laptop to test my speeds for them. they have no way of testing it. Said my xbox was not a valid way to test speeds. It has a 10/100/1000. Ok so I'm on my way to get a gigabit laptop. any resolution anyone know of or help. in any way

[DE] New neighborhood with Mediacom cables lying across all the yards

We moved into a newly (currently) built neighborhood in Ocean View, DE. Mediacom is the only provider and was very quick to come out and hook up cable/internet for everyone. Problem is they just installed an above ground cable, hooked everything up and then told us "someone would be back in a couple of weeks" to bury the cable. Well 6 weeks later (longer for others) cables still above ground and calling Medicacom results in them "making an appointment" to have the work done and no technicians show up. Has anyone else experienced this and/or managed to get them to finish the work?

Offline last week for about 6 hours, and now we've been off since 8:30 this morning. I know that both Independence and Oelwein are affected. Wondering how widespread this is? Any other reports in Eastern Iowa?

I've had Mediacom (internet and TV) for about 9 months now (new area made available/wired) and I have 1GIG internet but I've only gotten that speed 2 times, that I recall. Chad, can you assist? I've never complained, but even though I'm on a promo, I should be getting close to what I'm paying for. My speeds are in the high 200's for the most part. OK, I have 2 pics attached. 1st has a ton of errors, second, I reset the modem. Should I have to reset the modem? The last time I called support, I was told my modem was bad. I replaced it, no change. I have an arris SB8200. help...

I do competitive gaming (esports) on a high competitive level and need great connection to keep up with me. I recently moved and got Mediacom internet installed. Not going to lie I wanted At&t fiber but Mediacom was seriously the only option..the only one. I hope Mediacom isn't supposed to be low par internet because this internet makes competing impossible! I don't have a computer to do direct hardwired tests unfortunately. My setup is this: Mediacom provided modem Thomson DCM476 -> Netgear R7000 -> hardwired PS4. I am getting horrible connection in game. Compared to my old internet provider, this is a complete joke of a connection. Here is my modem's signal levels which are posted. Any suggestions?

Bundled Mediacom phone Friday and all seems OK except caller ID. I have called customer service twice for other issues and have mention this both times. The first time they said to wait and it should start working and today they had me restart the modem and my TiVo boxes. The rep did mention my modem was "in a weird error state". Still not working, any thoughts? Thank you in advance!
