Of all the years I've been with Mediacom, I've never seen this short of route for a ping to www.uiowa.edu Looks like it's direct to/from Mediacom to uiowa.edu (hop 4 to 5).
I can remember years ago from Mediacom Iowa City to uiowa.edu, the "traffic" went clear to the EAST coast. And from uiowa.edu to my Mediacom ip went clear to the WEST coast. Both ways just for a 4 mile trip. Then after about 2 years, routing went to Chicago and back both ways. Now it looks like it's within Iowa City or Cedar Rapids.
