Yesterday I had a Mediacom Sales Rep visit my House. This is the first time I have seen a MC Rep in my town in 10 years. He asked how I like my Internet Only Service, and we had a very pleasant conversation on all things Mediacom. His truthful and "off the record" information was interesting and surprising.
Anyway he offered me a very competitive Internet/Tivo bundle at a rock bottom price I have never seen before, even from MCchad. Also since I have presently Directv (no contract) an even greater incentive was offered. He gave me prices for 2 years, both no contract and with a contract. Both offers would save me money over my present costs.
What I need is information about the Mediacom Tivo. Can some one give me a link to specifics about the hardware used and it's capabilities. Here are some concerns:
1. Size of Hardrive and can it be expanded like a non-MC Tivo with an external hardrive?
2. Does the On Demand MC offerings use your internet Data Cap?
3. How is the performance with the mini's. Acceptable?
4. This is a biggie. Do I get NEW equipment? Used re-furbs that smell like a dirty ashtray are not coming into my home.
5. How many tuners does the MC Tivo have? Will it fast forward commercials?
Any other thoughts, pro or con are appreciated. Mediacom does not have a stellar reputation and this always concerns me. My Internet only service is fine and has been for 3 plus years but I have always had this un-easy feeling that I am always getting close to getting screwed by Mediacom.
