I got a thing in the mail to upgrade to Xtream Silver as I currently just have internet (the promotion includes 50down internet, TV, and phone for one year), and I had some questions.
1) I currently have a DOCSIS 2 modem. I know I will need a DOCSIS 3 modem for the faster internet. The flyer states the current modem rental charge is $7.50. Do I have to use Mediacom's modem, and if not, is the rental fee waived? I'm assuming I do need their modem as phone is included.
2) I want to get BBC America if I do go for the promotion, but I don't think it's offered in the Silver lineup. I know there's a pack of channels that includes it - how much more per month would it cost to get that as well?
I'm just trying to decide if I want to take the plunge or not. I haven't had TV in almost two years, so it's not like I'd be missing it. I also haven't had a home phone line for about five years. But I would like to have TV again, and I've been thinking about upgrading to faster internet. Are there any other promotions out there (maybe something for just TV and internet)? I'm just trying to decide if it's worth it or if I should just stick with what I have for now.
