Cable Modem (brand new!!) losing its signal over and over again...

Ok, so.. my net's been working just fine until about 2 months ago when it suddenly started losing its connection (at first) every evening at about 7 pm til late night repeatedly and seemingly at random. I have a good friend who is a lineman for mediacom. He came over.. replaced all the connectors on the line for the whole street and said they were all looking a bit corroded and rusty. It helped.. for about a week. My signal levels just after he'd showed up were about -4 db to about -6 db.. which was acceptible.. no lost connections or signals.. then sometime last week, it started up AGAIN. Now, my modem (when it can GET a signal) runs anywhere from -7 db to -14ish (at which point the cable modem goes completely offline for about a solid 2 minutes)... which is insanely frustrating given I'm an I.T. guy, and my cable connection is my lifeline to be able to do system OS upgrades for my clients, etc. So I called Mediacom "customer support" this past Friday and of course got an Indian woman whom I could barely understand. She said that they COULD schedule a tech to come out this coming Monday, but an adult would have to be there for them to troubleshoot. Problem is, both my wife and I work... and I don't get home until about 4:20 pm... so she basically refused to schedule a tech visit. My personal lineman cable guy friend won't be able to stop by any time this week (or later) cause they have him allocated to Columbia City, Indiana. I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here.. I've basically been getting REALLY crappy speed and service from Mediacom for the past solid (at least 2 months) now, and I'd love to be compensated for the time I've been without a stable net connection considering the amount of money I've been shelling out for a service I can barely use. MediacomChad, I know you're "THE MAN" when it comes to this stuff... I'm not sure if there's anything you can do as far as "knocking a few skulls together" to get a tech to come out and get this resolved in a timely fashion.. and get things rolling again!! ;-) My lineman friend said that it really sounds like my "service drop line" is going to need replacing.. which is fine if they need to dig a trench through my yard to get the job done.. as long as my net is back in stable working order again. Thanks in advance, MediacomChad!! ~Chris
