Hello, I will try and keep this as concise as possible.
Hardware:
Mediacom supplied modem
Router : Asus RT-AC88U - stable, stock firmware , all advanced features turned off
PS4 - set to DMZ to rule out port forwarding issues, WIRED connection ( not WIFI )
Throughput test is amazing, no issues there ( 100 down / 18 up )
Ping is sub 30 ms
I'm currently 20 hops to www.google.com
No packet loss at this point in time ( was resolved by a in home tech the other week )
Problem : Even though I have high speed service and all standard tests come back as normal, I'm finding that my connection when gaming online is unstable. I will fluctuate between a red bar and green bar. To the point that the servers will start "referee'ing" me due to possible cheating by manipulating data packets.
A phone call into support lands me with representatives who are quick to blame my router and for me check that, it's nothing on their end. I am confident in my networking skills and feel that everything is optimal from my home to the neighborhood junction. I simply need to know if this is the limits of the mediacom network in my area (not robust enough) or if there is a possibility of some remapping at mediacom to improve my network's connectivity to the rest of the world.
Thanks!
