Well I replaced my modem to a surfboard sb6121 about 2 years ago and all of the sudden I had no connection a few days ago. I call and mediacom says it is something on my end so they send a tech out. First thing he fixes some ends cause I was getting signal lose, then he checks modem and it still won't come up. He explains to me that more than likely my modem is not getting updates anymore which would cause the modem to basically become a paper weight. He tells me to look at there site for approved modems and buy one of them. In the mean time he hooks up one of there modems until I can get a new modem, so we have internet now. After he leaves I look at the list and my modem looks to be on the list under modems that have firmware updates. So I'm confused if my modem is listed that there is an update why did they not push an update to it? If I decide to still buy a new modem how do I determine which one that will stay up to date for many years to come and not only last a couple years?
