Wow, lather, rinse, repeat. gigabit service, 240MBps down, 8MBps up using dslreports' speed test.
Mediacom's test: 280 down, 9 up.
With or without a 3rd-party router in the mix.
On top of that, it's EXTREMELY choppy as far as consistent speed. There are bursts up to 4 or 500, then drop to 50. If it was 250 constantly, that'd be fine for normal use, but when Netflix/youtube/hockey games constantly shift stream rates to get better quality, well, it just effing makes it unusable.
Is it too much to ask for more than 25% of the advertised rate? I'm going to send 25% of my bill in this month and see how that goes.
...Trying to stream a hockey game at 720p, buffering... buffering... buffering. 480p is the best "gigabit" service can handle. What A Joke.
