So today our entire setup was replaced thanks to a contract renewal for 'cheaper' pricing. Took us 4 years dealing with poor signal to have everything running somewhat smoothly for the past year all in part to Chad helping. But that's all out the window thanks to MoCA.
Tech installed everything today, all 3 tv boxes were working properly, except download speed tests were tossing out errors. Figure just the servers, fast was showing good results, dslreports was zeroing upload, speedofme was all errors. All this while connected to my router, tech was on modem/gateway wifi and was fine. Sign my name anyways and move to using the provided wifi, most websites won't load google mainly. Think it's a DNS issue, double check everything, and many restarts later windows is saying I'm connected to multiple networks. All this while my router is unplugged, seems odd. Try using that awful homewifi w/e clearaccess crap and it shows I have 14 devices, track down mac address and can verify 6 of the 14 (3 tv's, router, pc, tech's phone). Anyways 3:30pm rolls around, school lets out, neighbor kids rush home, parents off work, w/e. Our main box turns off and is stuck in a bootloop since then. Only twice in the past 4hrs has it shown any channel picture other than "Starting Up" or "TiVo" logo but never lasted longer than 3-4mins. Internet also has been utter trash since then showing packet loss of 5-30% starting at hop 2 and retarded high pings on 1. Our old modem was baselined so I never seen it while pinging idt. Plug in router again and same results just stable ping on hop 1 of 1-5ms over wifi and can finally access google ffs. Hop 2 still horrible high pings at times which I think is the modem wired to the router. Doesn't make sense a wired connection can jump to 300-1k ms.
Anyways long story short is it possible the tech forgot a poe filter and this is causing all the issues OR is our signal so poor it can't run MoCA?
Also questioning if our splitters are up to snuff to be paired with this service. Reading tivo documents requesting 1650mhz at least for MoCA.
Here's my horrible attempt at all our lines/devices.
Cable in
5-1002mhz 2way 3.5db spliter
|Technicolor CGM4231mdc -- R6300v2 Router
|5-1002mhz 3way 5.5db spliter
|Arris MG2 (DCX900)
|2x Evolution eBox
Tech should be in tomorrow morning and just want to cover as much as I can and not end up with poor signal or anything again. Didn't want any of this to change ideally but considering my bill would have doubled if not I had no other options readily available.
