[IL] Speed seems to be capped

Im currently paying for the 200mbps plan. I started the service back in September of 2017. For some of that time I was using the provided modem/router. After a little while I did switch it for an Arris modem since I was getting double nat problems with my router and I hated having to constantly baseline the router. Up until about 2 months ago I was getting about 250mbps on speed tests. Now I've been getting 100mbps locked as my top speed. I just changed modems from a Arris 6183 to a 6190 thinking that was a problem. After getting it setup on Mediacom's end I was finally getting 250mbps. About 15 minutes later though my connection dropped. It came back but now it's back to 100mbps. This seems like some kind of software issue either with the modem or on Mediacom's end. The only thing I can think of caused this is a couple weeks prior to the degraded speeds I tried to get an upgrade to 500mbps. After I made the call to do the upgrade my internet died for a few minutes then when it came back I was running at 500mbps. The problem came down to when the tech came out a couple days later I told them I wanted to use my own modem so they asked me to let the tech know I was cancelling the modem. Well they took that as I was dropping back down to 200mbps. I had a conversation they said they will send a tech out again but I declined.
