[GA] Daily reconnects in Albany, GA

I've been having unreliable internet service for quite a long time. In May of 2011 I replaced the Mediacom supplied modem with my own Motorola Surfboard SB5101U. Within a couple of months after the modem switch I experienced daily dropped connections. I would power cycle everything and eventually achieve connectivity but sometimes there would be a long delay. I requested service and Mediacom sent a subcontractor who replaced some connections. I continued to get dropped connections. I again requested service and Mediacom sent out a Mediacom employee who replaced some connections. I continued to get dropped connections. I called the Mediacom service number and, after remote monitoring, I was told I had a bad modem. In July of 2012 I purchased a Motorola Surfboard SB6121 modem after which dropped connections were replaced by daily reconnects. I Think my modem is good. I think the cable and connectors outside the house are good. I thing the inside cable to the modem is mostly good. There is only one Mediacom splitter between the TV and modem line but that last line to the modem isn't RG6. The last time a Mediacom technician came out I asked whether the low quality line was a problem and he said that his measurements said the line was not a problem. I don't want to buy a third modem and I don't want to rent a modem from Mediacom, however, back when I had a Mediacom modem I never had any problems. I'm not a happy camper.
