I have been losing my internet almost every day here in Iowa City. Sometimes for a few minutes at a time (usually losing and regaining the connection several times over the course of an hour) sometimes for a few HOURS at a time. If it's not cutting the internet out completely then we're seeing major slowdowns sometimes.
I called during one of the aforementioned hour+ downtimes and was told that a tech would be coming out. A few days later I got a call from someone at Mediacom (a tier 2?) and was told that everything on my modem looked good from their end and that our area had been experiencing outages...despite the fact that whenever you open the app or call the support line they always seem to tell you "there are no reported outages in your area" and run you through a modem reset, etc.
Well...what gives? When can we expect an end to these outages? Is it really the entire area getting this sort of service? As I've been writing this post I've lost my internet connection 3 times. 4 times. It literally just happened again when I wrote that sentence.
Can we get any comment on whether this is a specific issue being worked on? I, and many of my neighbors, work at the University hospital and we require internet to be able to access patient medical records from home.
