[FL] T3 Timeouts

I haven't noticed any real network slow downs. But are these timeouts anything to worry about? Can it turn into a problem?

[Cable HSI] Still having odd issues where the modem reboots and never comes bac

within the past few months I added a timer to reboot my modem since the modem would do some sort of reboot thing or something but was stuck until it power cycled. that fixed the issue for the most part but even now it is doing it more often and a simple power cycle once a day apparently is no longer enough. I have had a tech out like 3x to attempt to fix the issue but it is still happening and it gets a bit frustrating. I never had this issue before I upgraded to the gig service. I have the modem only white modem, I forget the brand. they replaced the cabling from the pole all the way into the house and it seems to fix it for a while but then it doesn't. has anyone else experienced such an issue like this?

36460 - Packet Loss & Latency Spikes

$

I've been getting fairly consistent packet loss with occasional latency spikes over the last few weeks. Its not all day, but comes and goes throughout the day and night. I thought I'd let it go as it wasn't that bad at first, but lately its been bad enough that its starting to take down my VPN a couple times a day. The packet loss is usually between 2% and 6%, but sometimes spikes above 10%. At first the 'sessions' lasted a few minutes and occurred about twice an hour. Now its pretty much non-stop all day. The same as every year prior. I measure packet loss and latency 24-7 between here and the Mediacom assigned gateway (173.21.01) as well as 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) and 8.8.8.8 (Google). Almost all of the latency starts between here and Mediacom's gateway address, so its definitely within the Mediacom network. I should mention I have problems every year starting around this time and it almost always ends up lasting through the fall, sometimes into the next year, since it takes Mediacom months and months to figure out where the problem is (its never been here at the house, not once in over a decade). As I am about to post this I am seeing an alert stating 5% packet loss to 173.21.0.1 (Mediacom gateway) over the last 25 seconds ... EDIT: Immediately after posting this packet loss between here and the gateway shot up to 22% for about a minute, took down both my 'privacy' VPN and work VPN then dropped down to 3%-5% and stayed there for a couple of minutes. EDIT 2: Its been over 2 hours and the packet loss hasn't stopped. It hovers around 5% and spikes over 10% several times an hour.

[IA] Tiling and terrible speed test and packet loss

Been having tiling on the TV for almost 3 years now off and on. Internet issues off and on since 1985. Maybe Mediacom needs to replace underground cable and other equipment instead of putting a bandage on the problem. Would anyone except these speeds as an example if your suppose to have up to 60 download? I have had techs out 100s of times and never once found a problem with my equipment it has always been an outside issue. Wish those issues would be fixed in our area already. Its insane it takes 30 seconds or more to even load this page. REDICULOUS! Mediacom can't expect to charge these prices with this type of service. Sure they send people but No one acutally resolves the underlying issue. Maybe for a short time it is fixed (SOMETIMES) but obviously there are area issues. I have lived in the area in the same house since 1985 and I have never seen UPDATES to the buried cable in our neighborhoods. The drops to the house YES, but the main lines I believe are in need of service. Grounding issues and more. Maybe the FCC needs to check our area. Mediacom pedestals I have reported to them last year in the summer are still uncovered with exposed cable. A tech ops supervisor told me that doesn't matter. I think it does matter, rain snow and the weather in general can have an effect on metal and rf connectors. Of course this is not the fix that is needed just an observation . http://mediacomtoday.speedtestcustom.com/result/9b8fe3c0-4006-11e8-a8f5-9f5d661aaef4 http://mediacomtoday.speedtestcustom.com/result/7b9bb6e0-3ff5-11e8-840f-81bd48b36875 https://testmy.net/db/VTe1B480C [att=1] http://mediacomtoday.speedtestcustom.com/result/fbb6c660-4024-11e8-a43f-2535a5907c0d Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.16299.371] Isn't this crazy? [FL] Gigabit Internet and not breaking 500Mpbs speeds

Hello Peeps and hopefully Chad! I've had Mediacom gigabit for around a month or so and my speeds (using http://speedtest.mediacomtoday.com/) are in the high 300's to low 400's mbps down. I didn't know if this is expected or acceptable for gigabit service. Honestly at this point our service has finally been rock solid stable so I haven't said much lol. Also after having straight up issues for 4 months solid they finally busted tail and a tech spent 3-4 hours here to get it right. Thanks for that btw! I know when I beta tested for a week or so our speeds were consistently in the 900's down. Now upload is always 50-70 mpbs. I have a Mediacom rented modem (Ubee emta with router enabled) so I can't really check the signal levels. I'm assuming since I'm getting over 250mpbs down the OFDM (acronym sp?) signal has locked. Now I did want to say I have tried plugging the same laptop in (with the power cord attached and it's windows 10) to the modem/router on port 1, rebooted the modem, then ran a speed test and still got low to mid 400's down. Is this expected? If so it's no biggie as I know "advertised" bandwidth and real world bandwidth are usually two different things. Before I continue I have had to swap out somewhere in the ballpark of 4-5 Technicolor modems since August of last year and those all got the same speeds too. So I'm thinking if there is a possible configuration issue maybe it's on the backend or outside of the house hopefully. I'm going to pm Chad my account info and the link to this post but I was hoping maybe some other peeps might have some input on this. EDIT: Forgot to add the most recent speedtest results plugged directly into the modem with everything else disconnected This is from the mediacom speed test site Last Result: Download Speed: 375168 kbps (46896 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 63793 kbps (7974.1 KB/sec transfer rate) 3/13/2018, 11:10:09 AM

Has anyone tried this yet? I have been using it since yesterday and loading times on sites are noticeable for me. I've used googles dns service for years but if i can get away from them logging everything i do then i will. Not saying cloudfare won't do the same eventually but right now the loading times are good.

Unable to provision modems for tenants, which is putting me in a bad mood... Our commercial account rep is "on vacation" with no contact info for someone else in his absence... Any clue what is up with Maestro, and when it might be fixed so I don't have tenants yelling at me? [att=1] Forum is having image issues again... the image is rotated correctly on my PC... sigh.

[Cable HSI] Modem help

$

I recently went all in with Mediacom and now have their phone service also. Before adding the phone I was running a Netgear Nighthawk for all of my wifi and internet needs. Since the Nighthawk doesn't support voice, I am looking for recommendations so that I can get rid of the Hitron p.o.s. that I need for the phone. My wifi speed dropped by more than 50% when I tried doing the wifi off of Mediacom's brick. I am looking for an all in one modem-wifi-voice-router that still has the performance of my Nighthawk. Thanks in advance, this forum rocks!

I have been getting slow speeds for over a week in Battlefield, MO. Just ran a speed test and got 5 down on a 100mbps plan! I have reset the cable modem multiple times as well as reset my router. [IA] Extra $10 charge "individual services"

I recently moved to a new place and I moved Mediacom Internet service with me. the Lady on the phone told me if I upgrade to Internet 500 my bill will be $5 less, so I agreed. I asked about my modem, she said they will provide new modem with the plan. Tech came and set it up and brought new modem. Now after 2 months I see $10 extra has been added to my bill. I never asked for a new modem. My modem was brand new (Aris Surfboard) and was working fine. Now I have Internet 500 and speed never more than 40! The exact same thing with my old modem. And I don't even use more than 500G a month. I asked for a tech to come to hook my old modem back, the guy told there will be $30 charge? What's going on here? Please I need help to solve this issue.

Recently, I have been losing connection altogether and noticing i have been getting less than half of the speeds i should be getting. this occurs throughout the day randomly. Both download and upload speeds seem to be inconsistent. i sould be getting 100 mbps down and 30 up I have an Arris Surfboard SBG6700-AC as my cable modem, which also provides the wifi. I am running Windows 10 and use Avast! Internet security. Attached is a screenshot of my modem connections. Thanks!

Here's a copy of my WinMTR report, I can't even play online games anymore because of the huge latency spikes I get in game. [IL] Motorola MB7420 with MediaCom?

$

Hello- I just bought a MB7420 to replace my MediaCom-provided Hitron and can not get it activated. I found the 'approved modems' listings after the purchase so this is a last ditch effort before I exchange it for another brand. Despite it not being on the approved list, customer reviews report it working with MediaCom (iirc in Iowa) so I gave it a try. Can anyone confirm that this modem is compatible and, if so, what is the secret bit of information to pass to tech support to get it working? Symptoms: Once connected, I get solid blue up/down arrows. 16 downstream channels locked, 3 upstream channels locked. Error message on the modem's admin page is the generic "access denied". I cannot access maestro.mediacomcc.com once connected (DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET); I have to do that via my phone which is a real pain. Setup: Coax from previous modem connected to new modem, computer connected directly to modem (bypassed my ap/router). "ipconfig /renew" gets me a valid 192.168 IP but no DNS services. Manual config of DNS services on the computer had no change. Contacted support twice. Both times the agents said the modem was not visible on their end. First agent tried to activate it anyways which at least resulted in the modem getting the correct configuration file (I saw tftp then the config file name was indicative of the internet plan I have "200 yada yada"). But still no success. Second agent didn't even try. Screenshots attached. Any help is appreciated. Return packaging on standby. Thanks -Jason

Mediacom 1GB half the speeds or less again

It was working great for a while then all of a sudden it's back to under 300. I called and they ended up sending a tech out. Checked levels and all was good replaced the splitter as well and it was still way low. They brought in a Samsung modem hooked that up and all of a sudden back to 900 range. They thought my SP 8200 was not locking some channels so I'm guessing OFDM lock. So I kept that modem and later on it was back down to under 300 again. I power cycled it and checked the connections and it was back over 900 but then 5 minutes later back to under 300. So not sure what the deal is and it's obviously not my SB 8200. The techs are gone now so not sure what the deal is.

[IN] Latency, poor DL and UL

Over the last 10 days I have had very slow speeds and not close to what I use to get. I am using the Arris (purchased) TM8200 modem. Router is the Netgear AC 1900 Model R7000. Modem has dropped more lately. I have done the standard trouble shooting procedures to no avail. My service is 100/10 internet only. Until recently my service has been great with good UL and DL speeds. One minuted everything is normal then the next everything is out of whack. MediacomChad any assistance would be appreciated. I'll IM info when you give me the go ahead. Any other member input would be appreciated also. I thank you in advance.

[Ames, IA] Down for 2 days straight

I knew MediaCom had horrible downtime, something like 14%, but this is just absurd. Two whole days the internet has been down with 0 contact from MediaCom giving us notice or apologizing for their failure to provide service. Anyone else in Central Iowa with these issues? Now I understand why people file a complaint with the FCC.

NAT Loopback?

$

I use a personally hosted domain with DDNS for remotely accessing my server pc for monitoring/remote desktop. I'm using only my Askey TCG310J as my only modem/router and I'm having some issues with NAT loopback. I have all the proper ports forwarded as I can access my server externally via the domain name if I'm connected to a VPN. However, I cannot connect to my server on my internal network. It seems like the issue is related to NAT loopback not working. I have my own router but I'm using just the Askey modem/router to try to nail down some random disconnection issues, but that's another topic. Any suggestions or comments welcome.
