I have been having problems with my modem spontaneously crashing lately. I know that it is the modem (and not the router) because when the internet goes down the modem lights are always messed up and because I can unplug just the modem (not the router) to reset it and then it fixes the problem/the internet is back up and running. I am guessing that it has something to do with increased internet traffic/usage because it typically only crashes when multiple people are using it and typically when I am watching Netflix. Unfortunately I don't know if I will be able to provide all the information that people may want to know because I live in an apartment and the cable came with the place. My modem is an RCA brand and a model number DCM425. I have not messed with any of the router or modem configurations and I also read somewhere that someone may have had luck running it on a 9V power supply cord instead of the 12V power supply that it usually comes with (and mine is currently using a 12V supply). Any thoughts? I'm getting very frustrated with how often it crashes and I'm looking for any helpful tips, comments, advice, purchases, etc. that will help me to fix the problem. Thanks!
