So, two years ago I spoke with customer retention. AT that time we signed me up for a set price for 1 year which would then go up in the second year by $15. I don't recall exactly what the amounts were but in the second year my bill would have been in the $130's + taxes and fees. It was a set amount each month. Now in the past 4 months my bill has been yo-yoing all over.
In April my TV package was $75 + $9.42 for local channels and sports network charge, my internet was $54.95. In June my TV was $72.55 + $9.42 and my internet was $48.33 + $5 for modem rental. In July my TV jumped to $90.00 + $9.56 and my internet jumped to $74.90 + $5. I am in the second year of a 2 year agreement. These prices should not be moving until that agreement ends in 3 days...so why is the bill all over?
I returned my modem in June, and yet I am still getting billed for it. I chatted with customer service on the modem billing issue. I spoke to customer retention who did their best to convince me I was getting a special price in July as a 'loyalty' bonus and their best pricing option was exactly the same price as I am already paying.
Since both Dish providers have sent me numerous offers for $49.99 for 2 years + a $200 Visa prepaid gift card. It looks like I will be dropping my TV portion and probably decreasing my internet speed down to the 50Mbps from the 100Mbps. I hate to lose the speed but given the 2 months where I dealt with connection speeds of between 4 and 8Mbps between 6pm and Midnight every night and the fact Mediacom likes to charge $15 extra if one's service is not bundled....I figure it will save me a boatload of scratch each month.
