[Cable HSI] How to deal with a Mediacom "Copyright Infringement Notice"?

I'm not really even sure where to begin with this. I'm writing on behalf of a longstanding, elderly client of mine who recently received no less than four "Copyright Infringement Notices" from Mediacom. Each of the four comes from the infamous "Rightscorp" reporting agency. The claim is made that a movie (Hangover) and its sequels were obtained illegally. One of the movies is actually listed twice. I know beyond any question of a doubt that this is completely bogus. What I want is some sort of positive, corrective action to take place regarding this matter. Thus far I have been unable despite repeated conversations with Mediacom to get anywhere. Their commentary remains the same: "if they didn't do it, someone hacked into their wireless network and used it without permission." No one has done anything of the sort. Said wireless network has a strong (over 35 characters long) WPA2 pre-shared key that is a random sequence of mixed case letters, numbers and symbols. AES encryption is being utilized. There are no "guest" networks (the router doesn't support them), default passwords have been changed, WPS is completely disabled and UPnP support is also disabled. No one has been in their house and her computer is 100% clean. She uses it very little and never takes it out of the house or lets anyone use it. In trying to sort this out with Mediacom over the telephone, I have dealt with some of the rudest representatives ever. I wouldn't have believed that anyone working in telephone support could be this rude. A third representative, initially contacted to help change the account password, was much more polite and sympathetic, but maintained the party line about intrusion on the network. I have no idea what to do next. These people are scared and upset. They don't understand and are afraid that their wages will be garnished, their credit rating destroyed and heaven only knows what else. They actually called the police to report what they felt had to be an attempt at scamming them, as they were not home at the time of this supposed infringement. These people have had Mediacom high speed Internet for nearly 15 years now and there have never been any incidents like this until now. I've done their computer work for nearly 20 years and would without question vouch for their integrity. I would be happy to provide further information as appropriate, though some of it is obviously material that I would not be willing to make public. I have copies of the notices they received.
