So most of us have seen the multiple netflix complaints in various mediacom markets where the peering point with cogent (primarily, att links are occasionally impacted as well) is over saturated causing poor streaming or complete inability to use netflix. I have noticed over the past several days this problem has now extended, at least in my area, to the google play servers. Via mediacom direct I cannot stream anything as the transfer sits below 200k/s. I turn on my vpn to route around mediacom, instant hd quality. The vpn of course is still using mediacom, just not directly to the play servers, same as the issue with netflix, we get great speeds as long as we bypass the mediacom to play/netflix direct routes. This is getting ridiculous, we really should not be forced to pay to have our traffic routed around medicoms traffic jams just to use streaming services. Keep it up mediacom, the FCC may visit you next to investigate why you are allowing these specific services to saturate to the point of unusability. Especially when these services are direct competitors to your cable/ppv services.
