I currently have 100/10 service and am quite happy with it (I get 134/12). Last year I bought a 16x4 cable modem to replace my current 8x4, thinking that it would be a little more stable and would allow for future expansion. Hooked it up, called in and got it provisioned and got 134/0.1. Spent the rest of the day trying various things with the helpdesk, to no avail. Finally, using the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" logic, I put the old 8x4 back in and got back to 134/12. What could be the problem with the 16x4 that doesn't affect the 8x4? There is a line trap on the pole from years back because I only have a data connection (no TV)... could that be it? I pay bills, game, shop... the usual stuff that makes being without Internet so traumatic, which is why I hesitated to keep the 16x4 online and wait for a truck to roll.
My stats are pretty good:

[IA] Tech Question
↧
[IA] Service out, patience with MCHSI support, out. Ridiculous...
So, my gigabit service went out yesterday morning, sometime prior to 8AM. Did the normal modem reboot, reset button, no joy.
Talked to support last night (does Mediacom outsource to India now? Broken English, could barely understand the lady). Was told there was a possible outage, should be fixed in an hour. Reboot modem at that time, it should work. If not, call back in 24-hours, and they'll do more troubleshooting.
Anyway, service never came back on.
Today, I call support back, get a native English speaker, he checks, can't see my modem, Soonest tech appointment is Jan 22 (FFS - I work in IT - I do stuff from home NIGHTLY!) BUT, he could transfer me to a lady to check if a local "store" has a modem I could swap out. There is! YAY...
I take off from work, extra long lunch. Stop at home, get modem, get to store, stand in line 30 minutes, and they tell me "Oh, gig service MUST have a tech visit, and we have no 3.1 modems on hand anyway. Go home, plug modem in, see if it lights up. If not, call support back, they may need to do something else due to the outage last night." Ok, so there's hope. Maybe they need to re-provision it, something like that. Nope. Call back, still can't see modem. Need to send a tech. Still Jan 22 earliest window.
I bet they'd have someone out tomorrow if I told them new service.

I've replaced all connections with new compression fittings and even replaced the grounding block in the demarc box on the side of the house. The T3 timeouts still occur even if the modem is directly connected to the main line coming into the house. A brand new modem also experienced the timeouts. I think the problem might be at the local junction box. Any ideas? Thanks

[IA] Speed/Connectivity issues
Hey everyone!
Moved out to Norwalk last July, and had noticed about a month ago I wasnt sustaining my gig speeds (getting about 400), but didn't have time to question it. Now it seems like I'm having speed consistency issues and my upload is in the garbage. Per Xfinity it shows I can hit about 900 but averages to about 400, and speedtest is showing around 350-400 with no spikes. The bigger issue is that my upload is ranging anywhere from 1Mbps to 3.5Mbps. This is also causing me to not be able to stream to live services such as Twitch or Facebook Live. I'm posting my tests and my modem settings. Any help is appreciated!
Additional Info: I've already performed the basics such as soft resets to the Arris 8200 and RT-5200 router, as well as factory reset of the router, and latest firmware. Per Facebook, it appears other people in Norwalk have been having issues intermittently as well. I'm not sure how long I've been having the upload issue since I hadn't tried upstreaming for several weeks.

[Cable HSI] SB8200: Question Regarding Firmware
Question: Firmware Downgrade?
I noticed my new Arris SB8200 I brought online has version:
D31CM-PEREGRINE-1.0.1.0-GA-01-NOSH.
My notes from setting up my Son's SB8200 last summer had
D31CM-PEREGRINE-1.0.1.0-GA-04-NOSH as the current version.
Any insight as to why the version was adjusted downward? Just curious.

[IL] Gig speed FAIL
All was working well until two days ago. Now my GIG connection doesn't give me more than 7mb down on the Mediacom speedtest site.
I've sent MC Chad an IM, but I haven't heard a word from him in four hours.
Anyone else having issues in IL?

Giga install fail, possibly modem bricked from provisioning?
Tech came out to setup my giga. I bought my own ARRIS SURFboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1 modem. Plugin modem, lights up, tech calls mediacom, they provision modem. All lights appear to be on ow as they should be, no internet. We power cycle the modem, now all I get is a green power light, nothing else works. Tech says faulty modem, but I am having issues with that since it was doing what it was supposed to prior to the provisioning. Odds are I will have no problem getting this modem swapped out, but just curious if there's anything i can do in the meantime to test this out, fix, or prevent from happening to my next modem.

Savage MN cable specs
I looking into getting A new modem for my son, he is currently using a old SB6121 I gave him. How many U/D channels are available in Savage. According to Mediacoms website looks like 60 is still their standard home speed. I am in another town with a different provider so I can't check it myself.

[IA] Gig install finally working right.. It only took 10 months!
After 10 months of a spotty 3-5 Mbps upload speed on my gig connection I finally told them to fix it or cancel it. They actually fixed it! I'm getting a steady 950 down and 65 up now. Great job guys!

[IA] Trying to Stream 2018 NBC Winter Olympics
Hello - trying to stream Olympics here, at NBC site. Asks users to select a TV provider, select Mediacom, asks for Mediacom log in but after entering log in info for Mediacom, NBC yields a "We're sorry....contact your provider message". I was able to access my email so my log in is correct. Tried using Firefox, Chrome, and Explorer, enabled cookies, etc. Got one stream to work but message below says similar to , "Your verification will expire in 45 minutes". I pay something like $80/month for high speed. would be cool to be able to stream Olympics being offered at no charge from NBC. I do not pay for cable TV, just internet. Thanks!

500mb speed issue
Just recently had Technicolor DOCSIS 3.1 modem installed with 500mb service. Speed were great but web pages were loading slowly or not at all. Spoke with tech support and modem has been reset multiple times. Now I am getting 50mb down and 9mb up. They tell me I need to replace the modem. Anyone have other suggestions, as it would be a wait of a 50 mile drive to get replacement. Thanks

SB8200 Signal Levels
We had an outage last week here in the Milton, Pace FL area. And these are what the signals look like after that, It use to not create so many errors. It is connected to a two splitter in the room that says 3.5db. Do these levels look fine or should I make an appointment for a tech?

[MO] Still being charged for a returned modem...30 months later.
I have tried to contact the Billing Reps online, and always get brushed off by saying "We'll have an answer for you in a few days" and "we'll coordinate with our account specialist". I've gotten no resolution.
I bought a modem back in September of 2015, and upgraded this modem in August of 2017. I returned the modem to my local Mediacom office. Should have gotten a receipt, but I didn't.
To my shock, I have been being charged for a modem since September of 2015, so for the last 30 months, a $7.50 charge has been on my account. Which means as of this month, $225.00 has been taken from me for a returned modem.
The one I bought in September was a Surfboard SB6183 and the current modem is a Netgear modem.

[IA] Internet out
Ok so for the last month. Once a week in the morning hours usually around 5am to noon. My internet is out. I don't use it all that much during that time and only assumed it was some kind of maintaince. But this is getting out of hand. A quick look at my modem shows it finished the initialization (signal, ranging, dhcp, config, register) but I only have 1 down and 1 up channel bonded. This is the same as it is every time. Restarting / power cycling modem does nothing. Modem log is filled with everything from dhcp errors to t3 timeouts.. please help

[IL] Why was I sent an unwanted modem and charged for it?
I just received a new modem from Mediacom that I did not ask for. I currently own my own ARRIS SURFboard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 (location in Moline, IL) which works fine. Since I'm on Ultra Plus (100 down), I don't really have a need for a 3.1 modem. Chad, are 3.1 modems now required?
I'm kind of upset that this was sent to me and I was charged without my authorization. Now I'm forced to deal with customer support to make sure my new rental fee is taken off and return this modem.
