Mediacom shutting me off

$

Got a call from the "fraud department" about a DCMA violation. They said the only way to keep service it to troubleshoot each device on my network. Really? There's a good 20 devices on my network and they want to do each and every one from laptop, PC, tablet, phone, and who knows what else. I told them this is a little ridiculous that it was probably one of the kids but they refused to take my word for it. Oh well it's a bit expensive anyway and to think after 8 service calls and running a new line to get me service it's going to end like this.

[Cable HSI] How does IPv6 work with Mediacom

$

I've found some old posts that mediacom doesn't support DHCP-PD (prefix delegation) on IPv6... is this still true? My router requests a prefix for the internal side using prefix delegation, and uses this for IPv6 devices. Is this is supported with Mediacom? CenturyLink does support this, Comcast, Verizon FIOS, almost every major ISP supports this... but does Mediacom??

[Cable HSI] Constant Lag Spikes in Prime Time Hours

I have been experiencing very bad lag spikes almost every evening somewhere between the hours of 6pm to 10pm. The speed is fine but anything requiring a low ping will get huge lag spikes. This has been happening for months and have not been able to get this resolved. Here is a copy of a Trace Route log using WinMTR simply pinging google.com: |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | 192.168.0.1 - 0 | 446 | 446 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | | 173-24-144-1.client.mchsi.com - 1 | 422 | 421 | 12 | 244 | 2404 | 124 | | 172.30.15.45 - 1 | 419 | 418 | 27 | 267 | 2405 | 127 | | po1.chgil001cr1.mchsi.com - 1 | 417 | 416 | 63 | 297 | 2402 | 159 | | po10.chgil001er1.mchsi.com - 1 | 417 | 416 | 67 | 297 | 2403 | 160 | | 72.14.215.212 - 1 | 417 | 416 | 64 | 297 | 2403 | 153 | | 108.170.243.174 - 1 | 417 | 416 | 64 | 297 | 2402 | 162 | | 216.239.42.33 - 1 | 417 | 416 | 65 | 297 | 2405 | 160 | | ord38s04-in-f14.1e100.net - 1 | 413 | 411 | 65 | 300 | 2405 | 158 | ------------------------------------------------------------------ You'll notice the spikes are up to over 2400ms with an average of almost 300ms, happening at the very first hop from my router to the mediacom offices. During non prime time hours this sits constant well below 100ms. This is a wired connection but will happen to everything it will behave the same bypassing the router completely.

[MN] Service repair time

I live in savage Mn and use mediacom. The internet at my house has been down multiple times since last year. They ran a new line, changed modems, worked on neighborhood hub... still having issues. However the most frustrating part is that when your Internet goes down the service time to get someone out there is four weeks. For someone who works from home one month without Internet is not acceptable. How can it be a month to get people service!

[AL] Why can't they fix my problem? Please help!!

I have had service for about 3 weeks now. I moved into this residence based on internet service available. I pay for the highest package. 200 mbs speeds is what they offer here. I haven't had steady service for a hole day since it was installed. They have sent out line service techs, maintenance techs to work on the line...multiple service calls. I have taken many screens shots showing very low to zero upload speeds. I have not had one day of uninterrupted service. I am freaking out because I work from home and need internet. I moved into this house because I thought mediacom was good stable internet. I may have to move my entire operation. I dont even need the speeds I pay for. Just something that works. OH and I can forget about ever trying to play a game online, it has never worked for that yet!....very sad and starting to get angry. Arent there supposed to be professionals that know how to fix this issue? PLEASE HELP? what is going on mediacom? Everything from pole to desktop is new. Even replaced the modem in case that was it. PLEASE HELP!!

I am receiving a credit on my bill for the now 15 days my upload has been at unusable levels (1.00-4.00 at any given time, all the time). This has been occurring since August 8th and has made it impossible for me to livestream and I'm starting to get, understandably, a little annoyed. *Modem is a Netgear CM500 and router is Asus 450Mbps N Router. *Signal levels at 192.168.100.1 are above. *Current speed test is: *Line quality test is here: http://www.dslreports.com/testhistory/1957509/bfbb0 *I use Windows 10. *The problem was intermittent at the beginning and now it is constant. It occurs starting at around 7:30-8:30PM every night and continues on throughout the night and sometimes straight through into the next day. *I have Windows 10. *I have Webroot SecureAnywhere version 9.0.21.18 as my protection software. I had a tech come out a year ago. He replaced everything he could replace. Even checked on the outside of the building. That was last year. Things were great up until just recently.

[IL] Something seems wrong here

$

Something seems wrong with my modem config tonight. Every day it seems like between 7 and 8pm, my internet goes out for about five to ten seconds and then comes back. Speeds seem OK, if a little slower than they used to be. But I checked my modem config page and it shows what's in the attachment. Shouldn't there be more channels? The modem is a Motorola SB6141 that I'm not too impressed with. I'm getting speeds between 27-37 down, and I'm on the one of the 60 down plans, so whatever. But I swear I've seen more channels there before. The log does say this: Oct 04 2018 00:51:28 5-Warning T202.0 Lost MDD Timeout;CM-MAC=20:3d:66:0b:4c:2e;CMTS-MAC=00:17:10:91:7c:97;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0; Oct 04 2018 00:51:28 5-Warning N/A DS Partial Service Fallback: MDD Lost-> CM in DOCSIS 3.0 Recovery Mode ;CM-MAC=20:3d:66:0b:4c:2e;CMTS-MAC=00:17:10:91:7c:97;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0; Oct 04 2018 00:51:28 5-Warning T202.0 Lost MDD Timeout;CM-MAC=20:3d:66:0b:4c:2e;CMTS-MAC=00:17:10:91:7c:97;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0; Oct 04 2018 00:51:28 5-Warning N/A DS Partial Service Fallback: MDD Lost-> CM in DOCSIS 3.0 Recovery Mode ;CM-MAC=20:3d:66:0b:4c:2e;CMTS-MAC=00:17:10:91:7c:97;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0; Any idea why it goes out every night around the same time? And if I'm right about the channels and what's happening? I did move about a month ago, so I'm in Marseilles, Illinois now, and not Streator, so maybe I need a new line from the street? Not sure. Just trying to figure this out. Edit: I should add that the modem is set to IPv4 only, and I know I used to get IPv6.

[Cable TV] MoCA Tivo installed, stopped working

So today our entire setup was replaced thanks to a contract renewal for 'cheaper' pricing. Took us 4 years dealing with poor signal to have everything running somewhat smoothly for the past year all in part to Chad helping. But that's all out the window thanks to MoCA. Tech installed everything today, all 3 tv boxes were working properly, except download speed tests were tossing out errors. Figure just the servers, fast was showing good results, dslreports was zeroing upload, speedofme was all errors. All this while connected to my router, tech was on modem/gateway wifi and was fine. Sign my name anyways and move to using the provided wifi, most websites won't load google mainly. Think it's a DNS issue, double check everything, and many restarts later windows is saying I'm connected to multiple networks. All this while my router is unplugged, seems odd. Try using that awful homewifi w/e clearaccess crap and it shows I have 14 devices, track down mac address and can verify 6 of the 14 (3 tv's, router, pc, tech's phone). Anyways 3:30pm rolls around, school lets out, neighbor kids rush home, parents off work, w/e. Our main box turns off and is stuck in a bootloop since then. Only twice in the past 4hrs has it shown any channel picture other than "Starting Up" or "TiVo" logo but never lasted longer than 3-4mins. Internet also has been utter trash since then showing packet loss of 5-30% starting at hop 2 and retarded high pings on 1. Our old modem was baselined so I never seen it while pinging idt. Plug in router again and same results just stable ping on hop 1 of 1-5ms over wifi and can finally access google ffs. Hop 2 still horrible high pings at times which I think is the modem wired to the router. Doesn't make sense a wired connection can jump to 300-1k ms. Anyways long story short is it possible the tech forgot a poe filter and this is causing all the issues OR is our signal so poor it can't run MoCA? Also questioning if our splitters are up to snuff to be paired with this service. Reading tivo documents requesting 1650mhz at least for MoCA. Here's my horrible attempt at all our lines/devices. Cable in 5-1002mhz 2way 3.5db spliter |Technicolor CGM4231mdc -- R6300v2 Router |5-1002mhz 3way 5.5db spliter |Arris MG2 (DCX900) |2x Evolution eBox Tech should be in tomorrow morning and just want to cover as much as I can and not end up with poor signal or anything again. Didn't want any of this to change ideally but considering my bill would have doubled if not I had no other options readily available.

[MO] Outtage CoMo area....

$

Man this is so infuriating. The storm that just hit and passed I think knocked out my Mediacom. Phone support is horrendous. I call, tell them what happened, and I have to set up an appointment to have my stuff looked at on Monday. As always it’s going to be an outside issue, and I’m willing to bet it’s not just me. Lazy techs I talk to no longer willing to take the extra step to see others around me as well. “It’s not considered an outtage until 3 people in the same area make an appointment.” This seems the most bullchittish method of detecting an outtage. Last time I was down for a couple days, tech came out tested outside and immediately came and told me it was an outside issue. Why are the techs so far and few that are willing to go the extra step to just look at neighbors and such? I keep seeing all the centurylink and socket trucks doing work. I can’t wait till the day I can get a decent speed alternative.

I have a tivo from mediacom and I was in the settings and Apps section when I saw "Bump_Upgrade2" with a little clock symbol next to it. when I select it it acts like it is doing something then it says "sorry our systems are temporarily unavailable." What is this and should it be working. It has been like this for a few days. The Tivo model number is px001dnt. Thanks for any help

[IA] Help getting Netgear CM500V activated for MTA service

$
0

To save money, I bought the above modem so I wouldn't have to pay Mediacom for a modem rental. The intent is to use it for phone service only, as I already have an Arris beast pulling internet duty. However, I've been unable to get it activated for MTA service. Paradoxically, it gets internet just fine (which is not what I need it to do,) but the MTA status in the modem's internal dashboard says "Rejected." I've made sure to give the Mediacom phone support tech the MTA MAC address, too. The modem is DOCSIS 3.0 and PacketCable 1.5 compliant, so it should work. Has anyone seen anything like this before? How did you resolve it?
