So the Internet has been up and down 14 times so far today.. and this has been a problems for months and it has nothing to do with bandwidth. It has to do with the weak signal.. A Tech has replaced all the lines and said the signal was horrible so he put a booster on it and they still are insanely horrible. trying to cheap out on the Amps on the line to save money..

https://www.timesrepublican.com/news/todays-news/2021/02/broadband-bill-seeks-to-bring-high-speed-internet-to-rural-areas/ Looks like Governor Reynolds wants people to be connected at speeds of 100 Mb down/up. I guess I don't have broadband anymore either😉 I know DOCSIS 3.1 can do 1Gb up wonder what the timeline is?

Well just got a nice surprise with my bill I just received. Last months bill was $172.58 and this months bill is $221.43. Triple play cost went from $119.98 to $166.48. Why? My internet went from 60 mbps to 100-1000GB. Why? Yes this is a deal breaker. Anyone else getting this type of increase?

my mother has mediacom Xstream and they recently upgraded the speeds on her service to I think it is 300/30. Is this modem capable of the speed upgrade? If so how much faster can it handle?

[IA] late after noon and evening speeds extremely slow

Anyone else seeing this? For the last week or so, around 5 up until at least 10pm when i go to bed my internet goes from its nice fast 300Mbps to 40-50Mbps tops upload is fine, but downloads tank big time. the mediacom speed test which i have to assume is indeed located here in cedar rapids is pulling proper speeds but any test outside of CR is tanking, and i can see it in browsing speeds, netflix or other nightly things. Given I work at home, and am still actively working well past 6pm its really hurting my productivity and I cant see anything wrong. And of course my crazy MB8600 modem wont let me log in to see signals, i must have changed the p/w and dont recall doing it, will have to do a factory reset.

[MN] IP geolocation puts me in Kentucky

Good morning. Yesterday, when I logged into my Hulu Live account on my Apple TV to watch something on my local channels, I was presented with a message that my IP address did not match my home zip code. Did a little checking and found that the new IP address associated to my modem has me geolocated in Kentucky. I had to work with Hulu to rectify the issue, which they were able to do, but, wanted to reach out here to find out how does Mediacom roll out new blocks of IP addresses and how do they assign geolocation? When I do some research on my IP address further, it is based out of New York (Expected since Mediacom is based there). While Hulu now is working with MN local channels, if I go into an app like FoxNow on my Apple TV, the local channels are based in NY. Thank you for any information on how this all works!

[IA] New tv but cable box doesn't support it?

Had to buy a new television since our 14 year old one finally bit the dust. Bought a new Vizio because have had good luck with my 8 year old Vizio in the basement. Got it connected and to my surprise I can't adjust the color, tint & contrast. Now it comes from the factory with a pretty good picture but would like to tweak the picture a little. Called Vizio and was told some cable boxes don't support the tv. My cable box is a PACE-RNG150N that I have had for 4 years now. Anyone else run into a situation like this? Thanks!

[AL] Mediacom Slow Internet Speeds

Good Afternoon. I'm attaching a couple of pictures. My upload speed has slowed down to 10mb or less in the past three weeks. Now my download speed has slowed down to roughly 300mb download. The technician came. Told me my signal was perfect. Told me that my modem was bad. (I have my own modem). Then placed a Mediacom supplied router and the speeds were good. Ok, i went and bought a router. I've tested this connection anyway you can think of. Direct to modem, a different modem, different routers (plural). Nothing gives. My speeds normally were 900mb plus download, 80mb upload all the time. I've never had a problem until they completely rewired my neighborhood after Sally. A lot of people went to Mediacom from ATT after Sally. My equipment and computers are not the issue. I just want the issue resolved, and I'm not getting anywhere with the local service.

Hello: I just noticed on my recent bill that my third year of promotion for the Tivo Triple Play with 1 GB internet has ended and my bill is now $215. What is the best way to get a better price on the package, as I have been a customer since 1999. Thanks, Chris

Please help! I’m having issues with my download speed on my PS4. I’m currently downloading a game watching it tick up 2 mbps at a time, and it’s very frustrating as I am not very tech savvy, and this issue even prevents me from playing certain games altogether. I have the 100 mbps package, and I know Mediacom is cable, so I’m splitting with two roommates, but come on! I really hope someone can help me with this issue, I’ve been struggling with it for years!

[IA] Got a better price and speed, but with some fallout

I recently called customer service to see what promos I could get on my service. They were able to give me a great deal with better speeds, but unfortunately also deleted my Mediacom phone and gave me a new number. Called back in and was able to get my number back, but now cannot access voicemail. There is a PIN on the account, but I have no idea what it is. It is not the PIN that I set up and is not the PIN on my monthly bill. Can someone here (MediacomChad?) reset a voicemail PIN? Also, the Mediacom phone website is pretty much useless.

[IA] Purchasing Modem

So I'm finally going to be buying my own modem to save a little money on my bill. When I asked the lady on the phone she told me there isn't a list anymore and that any DOCSIS 3.1 modem will work with Mediacom. I also asked if any DOCSIS 3.0 modem would work and she said yes but warned about no support for faster speeds. I'm not worried about faster speeds as I can't afford more than the 100 down plan that I have anyways. So with that being said is she correct that any DOCSIS 3.0 modem would work? Any recommendations for something cheap? I have my own router, etc. so I don't need one that comes with a built in router. Thanks in advance.

So I need a second connection of High-Speed internet while also having the 1st one as my home network. I work as a YouTuber and an online personality and was wondering if I could get a second line for just uploading and using the bandwidth and not use up my home bandwidth>?

eero system comming to Mediacom

Today i got a email offering me access to their new Xstream 360 internet service with the eero pro 6 router system. Apparently since I currently have internet 360 with the MOCA signal extenders they are offering me first chance to sign up for this service. It will be $10 per month with 2 eero units but you can have more for additional cost. The rate is good for the first year but it does not say what it will be after that. Does anyone here have the eero pro 6 system that they own and what have your experiences with it been. Is it a good system and would I be better off buying it myself or should I try it by renting it for a couple of months from Mediacom. I know Amazon bought eero a while back and dont know if that a is a good thing or a bad thing. From what I am seeing most people who have a 3,000 sq ft house like mine have at least 3 eero pro 6 units and some have 4 or 5 when they want to cover outdoor entertainment areas. Im open to any and all thoughts.

[IL] Mediacom Packet Loss

Hi, I live in Ottawa, IL. My internet was pretty good until a crazy windstorm that took place in August of 2020. Since that time, my internet reliability has become absolutely terrible. I've called mediacom and been told everything looks fine to them. I paid to have a tech out (twice) only to be told the same thing. I showed the 2nd tech a live traceroute which was just pinging google dns. This showed massive packet loss, and ping, on hops 2,3 and 4. He completely understood my frustration, but admitted there is nothing he could do about it. I've called mediacom so many times, and tried to explain that the issue is not at my house. All of the problems start as soon as packets leave my network. I've now tried 3 different modems and 3 different routers, nothing helped. I've run a hardline direct from my modem, to my computer, and run pingplotter. This always shows the same packet loss across those first few hops of the network. Is there anything that I can do? It is crazy that I pay over $200 a month, but nobody will take the problem seriously, or spend 10 minutes actually looking into it. I would greatly appreciate any help. Eric

[IN] I have no idea what to do anymore, any advice?

So I have had Mediacom for nearly 3 years and its been almost entirely a negative experience. I have been dealing with upload speed issues for pretty much all of those 3 years. The problems pop up around March and last till around October. I get like a few months each year where I have no issues, and my work requires a consistent good upload speed. Last year after fighting with support over the course of several months, they continued to blame my equipment for the issues. I spent over $400 buying new Cables, Modem, Router, switchs, etc. and nothing fixed my issues. I have 3 PCs 2 of which are wired and the issues affect all of them. I have done LITERALLY everything. We even moved! But unfortunately where we moved to Mediacom is still the only provider I can get. After moving I had 0 issues for about 3 months, and then March rolls back around and BAM like clock work my upload speeds tank again. Support can't find any issues. I had to basically force them to schedule me a tech visit, but not before they decided to ship me a new modem, even after saying several times that the modem I have is practically brand new, but I guess i'll try that when it gets here. So now even after moving Im right back where I was. I thought the Upstream Power levels seemed high, but Support told me that as long as it's not over 53dbmv then they don't have to fix it. And I also had some errors in the event log that I hadn't seen before. Ive done some research on them and I still can't tell if they're anything to be concerned about. But i posted a screenshot of both the Upstream Levels and Event log in this post. I've tested for packet loss, and when it's at its worse I had packet loss around 3% but most of the time packet loss doesn't seem to happen it seems. I've tried every means of talking to support and It just ends up becoming a massive time sink and I can't sit here and spend 5 hours each day troubleshooting with support. Any one got any advice on what steps to take next? I'll try the modem when it gets here, and I guess see if the tech can find anything, Im just really sick and Tired of paying $120 a month for the highest available package and then another $50 on top of that for each tech visit where they come over and do nothing.
