https://www.telecompetitor.com/new-york-mandates-15-low-income-broadband-service/ With Mediacom having a presence in New York I wonder if they will be obligated to provide pricing adjustments. I simply wonder what Mediacom is going to do and that they have competition especially mine

Mediacom Mobile?

With a lot of the larger cable companies getting into the MNVO space. I wonder if Mediacom could ever join them? https://www.lightreading.com/cablevideo/cable-shifts-from-irrelevant-to-aggressive-in-mobile/d/d-id/765329 Seems like they would have to have something to continue to keep them and there customers $ comming in. With a lot of towns that have their own local FTTx service I see them losing more customers over the years

[IA] help with intermittent issues.. high uncorrectables.. ugly t3 & t4s

Looking for expert help regarding Mediacom issues in Central Iowa. For the last 3 weeks I seem to have intermittent internet issues. Problems on Zoom meetings. Drops offs and reconnects on Skype screen shares. Looking at cable modem log, I see lots of correctables, uncorrectables, and T3 and some T4 timeouts. My cable modem is a: Arris Surfboard SBG6580 -- I think DOCSIS 3.0 if that matters. My signal levels and the ugly error log are at: https://imgur.com/a/G2HoUhf Not good, I think about a weeks worth. Speed test from DSLR: http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/68114442 And a Speedtest.net resulted in: 9ms ping, 127.68 Down, 16.38 Up. As you can see the uncorrectables and correctables are crazy. A Mediacom tech came out, tested the main line, and ultimately said it was good and I could try a new cable modem or rent theres. As it is a straight connection, no splitters - it seems a bit odd. Granted, the cable modem is a bit older, see above and docsis 3.0, but it did work fine a month ago. I did switch to Mediacom's rental and have that on-hand, but have yet to switch. I fear I will not be able to see the uncorrectables, correctables, and log... and hence be a bit blind. Internet works for most part, just hiccups at times. Thoughts? Should I go ahead and install the Mediacom owned modem? Would love to ping MediacomChad or others who can maybe look at account too. Thanks everyone in advance

[IL] Threatened with throttling or disconnect for 1/2 data cap usage

Mediacom threatening throttling or disconnection for “above average” bandwidth usage I’ve been a Mediacom internet customer for about 10 years. I pay full rate for their gig cable internet, which includes a 6 TB data cap, as I do IT consulting and have a family of four that is pretty much always streaming things on multiple devices. Since I’ve been working from home for almost the past year my data consumption increased so I upped my package to make sure we wouldn’t go over the cap. I’ve never gone over 4TB of usage in a month, but came close a couple of times, so I upgraded the 500Mb to the 1G. So, got a call from the Mediacom fraud and abuse department today. The rep told me they were calling customers that have “higher than average” bandwidth usage as they are having network issues. I hurried up and checked my account and only used a bit over 2.5TB last month. He told me my upload was 450GB over their average and if I didn’t reduce my usage they would either throttle or disconnect me. I argued that I used less than half of the total data allowed by my plan, but he said my 1.2TB of upload was too much and that this was my warning. I’ve not been able to find any reference to allowed upload vs total data usage and am pretty sure they can’t just arbitrarily decide that only 750GB of my 6TB allowance can be upstream traffic. Has anyone else had a similar experience? If there were any other internet options other than horribly slow AT&T DSL, with a small data cap, I would switch in a heartbeat. Unfortunately with my job and working from home, going without usable internet is not an option. I’m about to the point of finding an executive contact at Mediacom and/or raising a stink with the media, but can’t risk them cutting me off out of spite.

[IL] Phone Issue With New Modem

Hello, I just purchased a new modem model: Arris SurfBoard SVG2482AC, which includes internet and phone over the same line. However, the phone is not working. I spoke to representative and gave them my CMAC of the modem and still no luck. But after talking to them I noticed there is also a MTA MAC, WAN MAC and a HFC MAC. Could one of theses other MAC addresses be the solution? If anyone has any experience with this modem any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I *may eventually move back to Iowa in the future and I have a TiVo Edge and I’m wondering if Mediacom still has CableCards available and if they are difficult to get provisioned. I have Comcast right now where I’m at and I’ve had mixed results of getting CableCards provisioned.

[GA] 3x technicians will not fix internet

I have had 3 different technicians come out to my house to resolve intermittent internet issues. None have resolved the issue. Always returns within an hour of them leaving. Tech 2 and Tech 3 close their tickets instead of escalating it to maintenence like the tell me. Every time I call Mediacom, after the issue returns when the tech leave all they can do is send another tech which the soonest is 1 week out. This can't be normal is it? How do I get reliable service technicians?

U.S. broadband industry accused in 'fake' net neutrality comments

Yup, broadband industry spent $4 million to filter fake comments to the FCC in opposition of NetNeutrality. Of the 22 million comments that were filed, 18 million were fake. Of the 4 million real comments, majority were pro NetNeutrality https://www.reuters.com/technology/us-broadband-industry-funded-fake-net-neutrality-comments-ny-ag-2021-05-06/

Mediacom iPhone App always starts in "Themes"

I'm unhappy with the Mediacom iPhone app. Whenever I open the app and sign in, the first page says "Select your Viewing Mode" and then you click Start. The next page you see says "Welcome back, Justin", but the problem is that it ALWAYS says "You have plenty of data remaining with 13 days to go this period" and that my current balance is $0.00. To get the ACTUAL usage, you need to click on the "Usage" tab where it shows you the real usage data. I feel it's incredibly misleading that the first screen you see tells you that you have adequate data remaining. I haven't run into any data usage issues, but I found this to be really confusing. Thanks, Justin

[IA] Tegna Blacked Out Station Question/Suggestion

$

In the Des Moines area, ABC and CW are owned by Tegna and have been blacked out on Mediacom since 12/31/2020. It sounds like Tegna is being unreasonable with the amount they're asking for. My question is this...Would it be possible for Mediacom to provide Des Moines customers with ABC and CW from another Mediacom market where those stations are not owned by Tegna? For example, ABC and CW are not owned by Tegna in the Cedar Rapids area. While these lengthy negotiations continue, would it be possible to provide the Cedar Rapids ABC and CW stations to Des Moines Mediacom customers? I'm using an antennae on one TV so can pick up those stations but have no way to record shows. Since this has gone on so long and no end in sight, I thought I'd ask if this is possible. Thanks

[Cable TV] Is my intermittent 842, 843, 844 sun outages or bad weather?

$

Since around the time that MediacomChad posted the notice about sun outages I have had channels 842 (DSCHD), 843 (TLCHD), and 844 (APHD) give that One Moment Please wait Ref Code S0a00 message during the day and at night, and then being available several days later. Yesterday was bad weather, here in Alabama, and those channels were out all day. Today is bright and sunny, and they are back. I had planned to call if they were still out, but will post the question here, if my ability to get those channels is weather related. We are past the March 9 for the sun spot outages.

Modem reboots/power cycles EVERY day between 8AM-10AM

$

Is this normal behavior - all signals seem fine...it happens daily from 8AM-10AM - - of course usually when I am in work meetings and I get cut off. New modem (SB 8200) although the old modem had the same issue. It comes back and speeds seem ok but this is crazy that every day between 8-10AM the modem just goes dark and reboots/power cycles...anything I can check on this...the line to the house is new. It has been grounded which I did since it was not grounded and neighbors have lost total systems from not being grounded and lightning strikes. It is a new RG6 COAX line (I installed it myself from the main Mediacom connection to the building) - - it just keeps doing it...daily....
